Interpretations: Celebrating the Music of Earth, Wind and Fire
Interpretations: Celebrating the Music of Earth, Wind and Fire collects ten classic EW&F tracks as interpreted by some of R&B’s finest practitioners. Released on Stax, this better than average tribute album works pretty well, with contemporary gospel heavyweight Kirk Franklin offering up an impeccable, if nearly identical rendition of “September,” while Chaka Kahn sexes up “Shining Star” with an “Alphabet Street”-era Prince-inspired backbeat and Me’Shell NdegeOcello puts a trippy, alt rock spin on “Fantasy.”
