Ira Schickman is a Multi platinum Grammy award-winning producer, songwriter, musician, and recording artist who has collaborated with some of the most iconic names in the music industry.

Ira makes music that crosses musical boundaries and genres, working with the top Rock, Funk, R&B, Pop, Hip-Hop, Soul, Gospel and Blues artists in the business Ace Frehley (of KISS), Blues Legend Eric Gales, Chaka Khan, N’Sync Tamala Mann and Kylie Minogue to name a few.

Ira played a principal role in building Calliope Studios and was instrumental in placing it at the center of the hip-hop movement. the studio helped ignite the careers of artists like De La Soul, Queen Latifah and A Tribe Called Quest.

In 1994, building on his success at Calliope, Ira founded Funktional Productions where he focused on writing and producing R&B and Soul, working with singers such as Marc Dorsey, Calvin Richardson and Rahsaan Patterson. That same year Ira signed a major publishing deal with Warner Chapel Publishing.

In 2000, Ira wrote ‘Spinning Around’ with Kara Dioguardi and Paula Abdul for Kylie Minogue; it went platinum several times over as an international number one hit and won Kylie the Best Pop Release at the prestigious ARIA Awards in Australia, and the song was responsible for re-establishing Kylie as a worldwide superstar. Continuing his successful rise in the genre of pop, Ira composed ‘Falling’ for N’SYNC’s album, Celebrity, which was also included on the soundtrack for the Miramax Film, ‘On the Line.’

Aside from his numerous album credits Ira has also composed original songs for film and television. He wrote, produced and performed the title track of Universal Film ‘Loving Jezebel,’ entitled ‘They Don’t Know.’ He also produced the title track, ‘Have A Little Faith in Me’ for the film ‘Disappearing Acts’ starring Wesley Snipes. Additionally, Ira co-wrote and produced ‘Caught Up’ for Queen Latifah’s box office hit, ‘Beauty Shop’ and wrote and produced ‘Let’s Roll’ for Chaka Khan, featured in the Fox–Searchlight film ‘Roll Bounce,’ starring Bow Wow and Nick Cannon.

Ira was honored to be included as a producer on Power of Soul: A Tribute to Jimi Hendrix, once again teaming with Chaka Khan on the Hendrix classic, ‘Little Wing.’ The two, then set out to work again on ‘Back Again’ for Soulive’s album, ‘Breakout.’ Building on their successful partnership, Ira and Chaka hit the studio to record ‘Shining Star’ for Maurice White’s album, ‘Interpretations: Celebrating the Music of Earth, Wind & Fire.’ Ira was also a producer, writer and musician on Chaka Khan’s two-time Grammy award winning album ‘Funk This’ in 2008.

In a cross promotion with Google, Ira and veteran singer/writer/producer Dinky Bingham reunited their R&B group The Construction Brothers to record their single ‘Karma’, which was featured for the launch of T-Mobile’s G1 Android phone. Later that year, their song ‘Hit Hard’ was featured in the 2009 Twentieth Century Fox Notorious B.I.G. biopic ‘Notorious.’ In 2009 Ira stepped out of the studio and onto the stage with his all-star Funk Revue, The Funktional All-stars, playing some of the biggest venues in the States, including Bill Clinton’s Global Initiative Fundraiser.

2015 Ira completed writing and producing the new NTH POWER Album “ABUNDANCE” with drum legend Nikki Glaspie of Beyoncé and Dumpstaphunk fame. In addition, he has also branched out into film, television, artist management, and producing live music events.

2016 He added gospel to his many genres. He co-wrote and co-produced four songs for Bryan Popin on his new album. “You Can Make It”, including the song “alright” featuring Tamela Mann who recently held the number one position for 22 weeks on the Billboard Gospel charts with her song “Take Me To The King”.

2018 Ira’s music was featured In the new Showtime Hit “the chi” Featuring common and Emmy® winner Lena Waithe And he is also in the studio Working on Some new Projects soon to be announced.

2021 Ira is back in the studio and super excited to be working with some of his favorite music icons on new music that will be released in 2021 and 2022. He has also been busy focusing on other various business enterprises.
